Strictly Come Dancing: BBC Breakfast star Mike Bushell is the SIXTH celebrity confirmed

BBC Breakfast star Mike Bushell has been confirmed as the sixth celebrity taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2019.

The sports presenter, 53, was announced on Friday's edition of the morning show, after years of being mistaken for 2009 winner Chris Hollins, he revealed.

It comes after Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley was revealed as the fifth celebrity taking part on Thursday, as the star-studded lineup for the new series begins to take shape.

As he was unveiled on the show, Mike admitted that for years viewers have confused him with former winner Chris Hollins, saying: 'It feels like a weird dream. I've known a few weeks. I thought they'd got the wrong person, genuinely.

'Because for years people have got me confused with Chris Hollins, who won in 2009. This happens every week, someone says, ''Can I have a selfie?'' They're in the middle of the selfie, ''My partner loved you on 'Strictly'', and I'm thinking, ''Do I say I've never been on 'Strictly'' or do I keep quiet.'

The father-of-three went onto admit he managed to keep the news quiet from most of his family, but did come clean to wife Emily, who he married in May.

He said: 'We had the first dance at the wedding at the end of May but it was more jumping up and down really, so I wouldn't really call it practice. I'm flying the flag for all dads dancers, it'll be a steep learning curve.'

Mike presents the main sports bulletins of the day on BBC Breakfast, as well as profiling main stream sports events from the Olympics, Paralympics, the Winter games, and the Football World Cup.

The star added: 'I am so excited to be joining this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. I’ve heard so many wonderful things from colleagues over the years so thrilled I’m now getting the chance.

'I know I will completely throw myself into the whole experience and I’m sure will love it from start to finish.

'I may have tried and profiled over 500 sports over the years in my Saturday morning BBC Breakfast slot but think the Strictly challenge could be the greatest. Bring on the glitter!'

Mike was the sixth contestant to be revealed for this year's Strictly, after former soap star Catherine was announced a day earlier.

Catherine, 35, has been rumoured to join the 2019 series of Strictly since August 2018 after she teased that she 'might pop up at some point' following a guest debut on the 2017 series.

Catherine said on Thursday: 'I’m thrilled to be a part of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. I’m a huge fan of the show. It’ll be my biggest challenge to date as I’m not much of a dancer, but I’ve always wanted to learn the skill and the time feels right!'

'I’m nervous as hell but super excited to work with such talented professionals. Hold onto your jazz shoes... mine is sure to be a bumpy/clumsy/fun ride!'

Speaking to This Morning, Catherine joked about how exciting it's been to keep her big secret, admitting: 'I feel like I'm in the FBI like the other day I came down they needed to take my measurements and they said your code name is Jasmine!'

'My husband obviously is thrilled to bits and when I told my best friend he started laughing and said "oh OK because the history is I can't really dance!"'

Catherine was insistent that while past contestants always say they can't dance, she has two left feet.

'Every year you know you get those contestants and they say they can't dance and then they get on the floor and they're amazing, nope can't dance!'

Admitting she used to 'swerve' dance classes at school 'because I was so big,' the soap star said she 'needs' to do this to build her self-confidence.

The actress has been practicing her moves with her son Alfie, saying: 'I love to dance on a night out if I've had a couple of drinks, and me and Alfie love to do silly dancing in the kitchen.'

The actress lives in Manchester with her personal trainer husband Tom Pitford and their son Alfie, four, with an insider previously revealing that 'she’s unfazed by the Strictly curse as her marriage is super-strong.'

And Catherine insisted on Thursday's This Morning that her husband is 'so chilled'. He's even been helping her get in shape for the show.

'We've been doing the odd session because I don't really dance I've been lifting weights. The past few weeks I've been so busy filming other projects for the first time in years I've not been going to the gym as much but the last few weeks I've been trying to do cardio,' she explained.

Catherine also gushed about her family's reaction, admitting her grandmother is 'so thrilled, it's been hard because rumours have broken saying she might be doing it and people texting me like "oh are you doing it? Can I meet Anton".'

The actress hinted she would be joining Strictly in August 2018 after promising her parents she would go on the show. Responding to a comment telling her to partner up with Aljaž Škorjanec, she said: 'I'm on it dad!! Promise! Cheers mum xxx (sic).'

The star has no idea who her professional partner will be but says her height narrows the field, pointing out: 'I'm quite tall so in my head I'm narrowing it down maybe Aljaz or  Graziano.'

Saffron has a reported net worth of $1million from her YouTube content which focuses on a mix of make up, challenge videos and pranks.

Speaking to Heart Radio, Saffron said despite having 1.2million followers on Instagram she's 'scared' of how the public might react to her place on the flagship BBC show.

'I think that's what I'm most nervous for,' she confessed. 'I think that everyone who follows me will support me as much as possible.'

Referring to the backlash Joe received last year Saffron added: 'I think the same sort of thing will happen probably.

'But I think once I get on the show, the public will get to know me as they got to know Joe, because as time went on his personality just shone.'

While she's a social media sensation, Saffron admitted that her dance skills definitely need some work.

'Everyone keeps thinking I'm going to be really good,' she admitted. 'Sorry to disappoint everyone but I don't think I'm going to be. I'd rate myself maybe a four, that's not great.

'If I go out with my friends all of them can really dance, I'm the worst one if we go to a club. I'm there doing the one, two step and a little bit of a click, that's pretty much all I can do, I wish I could twerk or something but no I can't.'

Saffron also spoke about potentially finding love on the show, laughing 'I am very [single], but I haven't even really thought about that.

'I think I'm just so focused on, obviously I want to meet my partner and have the best time and everything else, but I'm just so focused on working hard.'

Saffron joins former England goalkeeper David James, stand up comic Chris Ramsey and EastEnders star Emma Barton, who were the first three celebrities announced on The One Show on Wednesday.

It's all change behind the judging desk too, with pro dancer Oti Mabuse's sister Motsi taking over from exiting judge Dame Darcey Bussell.
